- CVE-2006-1056
LOW · The Linux kernel before 2.6.16.9 and the FreeBSD kernel, when running on AMD64 and other 7th and 8th generation AuthenticAMD processors, only save/restore the FOP, FIP, and FDP x87 registers in FXSAVE/FXRSTOR when an exception is pending, which allows one process to determine portions of the state of floating point instructions of other processes, which can be leveraged to obtain sensitive information such as cryptographic keys. NOTE: this is the documented behavior of AMD64 processors, but it is inconsistent with Intel processors in a security-relevant fashion that was not addressed by the kernels.
- CVE-2007-3721
LOW · The ULE process scheduler in the FreeBSD kernel gives preference to "interactive" processes that perform voluntary sleeps, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption), as described in "Secretly Monopolizing the CPU Without Superuser Privileges."
- CVE-2007-3722
LOW · The 4BSD process scheduler in the FreeBSD kernel performs scheduling based on CPU billing gathered from periodic process sampling ticks, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) by performing voluntary nanosecond sleeps that result in the process not being active during a clock interrupt, as described in "Secretly Monopolizing the CPU Without Superuser Privileges."
- CVE-2008-2427
HIGH · Stack-based buffer overflow in NConvert 4.92, GFL SDK 2.82, and XnView 1.93.6 on Windows and 1.70 on Linux and FreeBSD allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted format keyword in a Sun TAAC file.
- CVE-2008-2464
HIGH · The mld_input function in sys/netinet6/mld6.c in the kernel in NetBSD 4.0, FreeBSD, and KAME, when INET6 is enabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and panic) via a malformed ICMPv6 Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) query with a certain Maximum Response Delay value.
- CVE-2009-0601
LOW · Format string vulnerability in Wireshark 0.99.8 through 1.0.5 on non-Windows platforms allows local users to cause a denial of service (application crash) via format string specifiers in the HOME environment variable.
- CVE-2009-3048
MEDIUM · Opera before 10.00 on Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD does not properly implement the "INPUT TYPE=file" functionality, which allows remote attackers to trick a user into uploading an unintended file via vectors involving a "dropped file."
- CVE-2009-4502
HIGH · The NET_TCP_LISTEN function in net.c in Zabbix Agent before 1.6.7, when running on FreeBSD or Solaris, allows remote attackers to bypass the EnableRemoteCommands setting and execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in the argument to net.tcp.listen. NOTE: this attack is limited to attacks from trusted IP addresses.
- CVE-2010-2530
MEDIUM · Multiple integer signedness errors in smb_subr.c in the netsmb module in the kernel in NetBSD 5.0.2 and earlier, FreeBSD, and Apple Mac OS X allow local users to cause a denial of service (panic) via a negative size value in a /dev/nsmb ioctl operation, as demonstrated by a (1) SMBIOC_LOOKUP or (2) SMBIOC_OPENSESSION ioctl call.
- CVE-2010-3014
LOW · The Coda filesystem kernel module, as used in NetBSD and FreeBSD, when Coda is loaded and Venus is running with /coda mounted, allows local users to read sensitive heap memory via a large out_size value in a ViceIoctl struct to a Coda ioctl, which triggers a buffer over-read.
- CVE-2011-0343
MEDIUM · Balabit syslog-ng 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 OSE and PE, when running on FreeBSD or HP-UX, does not properly perform cast operations, which causes syslog-ng to use a default value of -1 to create log files with insecure permissions (07777), which allows local users to read and write to these log files.
- CVE-2011-0419
MEDIUM · Stack consumption vulnerability in the fnmatch implementation in apr_fnmatch.c in the Apache Portable Runtime (APR) library before 1.4.3 and the Apache HTTP Server before 2.2.18, and in fnmatch.c in libc in NetBSD 5.1, OpenBSD 4.8, FreeBSD, Apple Mac OS X 10.6, Oracle Solaris 10, and Android, allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU and memory consumption) via *? sequences in the first argument, as demonstrated by attacks against mod_autoindex in httpd.
- CVE-2011-1073
LOW · crontab.c in crontab in FreeBSD and Apple Mac OS X allows local users to (1) determine the existence of arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a /tmp/crontab.XXXXXXXXXX temporary file and (2) perform MD5 checksum comparisons on arbitrary pairs of files via two symlink attacks on /tmp/crontab.XXXXXXXXXX temporary files.
- CVE-2011-1074
LOW · crontab.c in crontab in FreeBSD allows local users to determine the existence of arbitrary directories via a command-line argument composed of a directory name concatenated with a directory traversal sequence that leads to the /etc/crontab pathname.
- CVE-2011-2145
MEDIUM · mount.vmhgfs in the VMware Host Guest File System (HGFS) in VMware Workstation 7.1.x before 7.1.4, VMware Player 3.1.x before 3.1.4, VMware Fusion 3.1.x before 3.1.3, VMware ESXi 3.5 through 4.1, and VMware ESX 3.0.3 through 4.1, when a Solaris or FreeBSD guest OS is used, allows guest OS users to modify arbitrary guest OS files via unspecified vectors, related to a "procedural error."
- CVE-2011-2393
HIGH · The Neighbor Discovery (ND) protocol implementation in the IPv6 stack in FreeBSD, NetBSD, and possibly other BSD-based operating systems allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption and device hang) by sending many Router Advertisement (RA) messages with different source addresses, a similar vulnerability to CVE-2010-4670.
- CVE-2011-2895
HIGH · The LZW decompressor in (1) the BufCompressedFill function in fontfile/decompress.c in X.Org libXfont before 1.4.4 and (2) compress/compress.c in 4.3BSD, as used in zopen.c in OpenBSD before 3.8, FreeBSD, NetBSD 4.0.x and 5.0.x before 5.0.3 and 5.1.x before 5.1.1, FreeType 2.1.9, and other products, does not properly handle code words that are absent from the decompression table when encountered, which allows context-dependent attackers to trigger an infinite loop or a heap-based buffer overflow, and possibly execute arbitrary code, via a crafted compressed stream, a related issue to CVE-2006-1168 and CVE-2011-2896.
- CVE-2015-3625
HIGH · The NVIDIA GPU driver for FreeBSD R352 before 352.09, 346 before 346.72, R349 before 349.16, R343 before 343.36, R340 before 340.76, R337 before 337.25, R334 before 334.21, R331 before 331.113, and R304 before 304.125 allows local users with certain permissions to read or write arbitrary kernel memory via unspecified vectors that trigger an untrusted pointer dereference.
- CVE-2020-10565
HIGH · grub2-bhyve, as used in FreeBSD bhyve before revision 525916 2020-02-12, does not validate the address provided as part of a memrw command (read_* or write_*) by a guest through a grub2.cfg file. This allows an untrusted guest to perform arbitrary read or write operations in the context of the grub-bhyve process, resulting in code execution as root on the host OS.
- CVE-2020-10566
HIGH · grub2-bhyve, as used in FreeBSD bhyve before revision 525916 2020-02-12, mishandles font loading by a guest through a grub2.cfg file, leading to a buffer overflow.
- CVE-2025-14558
HIGH · The rtsol(8) and rtsold(8) programs do not validate the domain search list options provided in router advertisement messages; the option body is passed to resolvconf(8) unmodified. resolvconf(8) is a shell script which does not validate its input. A lack of quoting meant that shell commands pass as input to resolvconf(8) may be executed.
- CVE-2026-101302
MEDIUM · TLS 1.3 embeds the actual record type as the last non-zero byte of the decrypted payload, optionally followed by zero padding. The code which searches for the inner record type had an off-by-one bug which could be triggered by an invalid frame, leading to an underflow followed by an unconditional NULL pointer dereference, causing a kernel panic. A remote TLS 1.3 peer can send a specially crafted record to trigger a kernel panic, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
- CVE-2026-101303
HIGH · The IPv6 UDP send path for unconnected sockets did not apply the jail policy of rewriting a loopback destination address to the jail's primary IPv6 address. A process in a classic (non-VNET) jail can send UDP datagrams to services listening on the host's IPv6 loopback address, bypassing jail network isolation.
- CVE-2026-101304
HIGH · When fdescfs(4) was mounted in a jail with the "nodup" option, opening /dev/fd/N returned a descriptor that did not inherit FD_RESOLVE_BENEATH or the Capsicum capability rights of descriptor N. A process in a jail that has received a directory file descriptor from another jail can use these techniques to escape the jail's filesystem root restriction.
- CVE-2026-101305
HIGH · renameat(2) did not enforce FD_RESOLVE_BENEATH on its directory arguments. A jailed process could rename a directory relative to a restricted descriptor, then escape the jail root via fchdir(2). This requires the directory to reside on a filesystem that is also reachable from the jail's root. A process in a jail that has received a directory file descriptor from another jail can use these techniques to escape the jail's filesystem root restriction.
- CVE-2026-101306
CRITICAL · SCM_RIGHTS file descriptor passing did not preserve FD_RESOLVE_BENEATH when a descriptor was transferred. A process could clear the restriction by sending the descriptor to itself over a Unix domain socket. A process in a jail that has received a directory file descriptor from another jail can use these techniques to escape the jail's filesystem root restriction.
- CVE-2026-2261
HIGH · Due to a programming error, blocklistd leaks a socket descriptor for each adverse event report it receives. Once a certain number of leaked sockets is reached, blocklistd becomes unable to run the helper script: a child process is forked, but this child dereferences a null pointer and crashes before it is able to exec the helper. At this point, blocklistd still records adverse events but is unable to block new addresses or unblock addresses whose database entries have expired. Once a second, much higher number of leaked sockets is reached, blocklistd becomes unable to receive new adverse event reports. An attacker may take advantage of this by triggering a large number of adverse events from sacrificial IP addresses to effectively disable blocklistd before launching an attack. Even in the absence of attacks or probes by would-be attackers, adverse events will occur regularly in the course of normal operations, and blocklistd will gradually run out file descriptors and become ineffective. The accumulation of open sockets may have knock-on effects on other parts of the system, resulting in a general slowdown until blocklistd is restarted.
- CVE-2026-3038
HIGH · The rtsock_msg_buffer() function serializes routing information into a buffer. As a part of this, it copies sockaddr structures into a sockaddr_storage structure on the stack. It assumes that the source sockaddr length field had already been validated, but this is not necessarily the case, and it's possible for a malicious userspace program to craft a request which triggers a 127-byte overflow. In practice, this overflow immediately overwrites the canary for the rtsock_msg_buffer() stack frame, resulting in a panic once the function returns. The bug allows an unprivileged user to crash the kernel by triggering a stack buffer overflow in rtsock_msg_buffer(). In particular, the overflow will corrupt a stack canary value that is verified when the function returns; this mitigates the impact of the stack overflow by triggering a kernel panic. Other kernel bugs may exist which allow userspace to find the canary value and thus defeat the mitigation, at which point local privilege escalation may be possible.
- CVE-2026-35547
HIGH · When processing the header of an incoming message, libnv failed to properly validate the message size. The lack of validation allows a malicious program to write outside the bounds of a heap allocation. This can trigger a crash or system panic, and it may be possible for an unprivileged user to exploit the bug to elevate their privileges.
- CVE-2026-39457
HIGH · When exchanging data over a socket, libnv uses select(2) to wait for data to arrive. However, it does not verify whether the provided socket descriptor fits in select(2)'s file descriptor set size limit of FD_SETSIZE (1024). An attacker who is able to force a libnv application to allocate large file descriptors, e.g., by opening many descriptors and executing a program which is not careful to close them upon startup, can trigger stack corruption. If the target application is setuid-root, then this could be used to elevate local privileges.
